Jahorina : Tara 115 km
River rafting on the Tara River is of recent date. It was initiated in 1964, by expanding the tourism program of Drina Rafting, using wooden rafts, that was organized occasionally.Tara Canyon was used only forfloating on wooden logs, until 1970.Today, Tara rafting is a combination of adventure and relaxation, making it an unforgettable experience and revelation of true value and beauty of nature. Tara has been put in the category of III-V class rapids on the international scale of river categorization in terms of rafting, which puts it on par with the most attractive rivers in the world, along with Colorado and Zambezi. Duration of rafting activity depends on the level of water, weather conditions and the rafting crew. In May, when the level of water is the highest, the activity duration is approximately 45 minutes, and in August and September 3-4 hours.Rafting is done in rubber rafts, custom made for wild waters. Capacity of a raft is 8-10 persons. Participants get high quality rafting equipment: wet suit and boots, safety jacket, helmet, paddle and rain gear if needed. An important role in rafting is played by the skipper, who is at the same time your rafting guide. Skippers have been trained and posses an IRF (International Rafting Federation) certificate. Before we start, the skipper gives a short introduction course about rafting. Tourists may take cameras, and they are keptdry in special waterproof containers. We will have several breaks to take pictures, a swim and some refreshments at the most attractive parts of the canyon.Wild water rafting makes change is your everyday life. It is a combination of adventure, sport and active relaxation, a challenge you should not miss.
