May 23, 2018The members of the Jahorina Olympic Center Board and the BiH Ski Association attended the 51st International Ski Congress held from 13 to 19 May in Greece. The conference also hosted 1,100 representatives from 80 different countries who had been given the opportunity to contribute to the current ski topics.
“Our aim at this conference was to introduce Jahorina in the best light and to jointly apply for bringing the European Cup to Jahorina. We encountered a lot of support from the FIS leaders. We found that they were aware of the positive changes that had taken place on Jahorina. We presented everyone that in addition to beautiful mountain, excellent hotels and great people and good hosts, we have the greatest desire of all the candidates to bring the European Cup to Jahorina. We are confident that we will realize the Cup in the best way possible with the support of President Milorad Dodik and the RS Government. We want to use our advantages, such as: EYOF equipment, vicinity of an international airport, good infrastructure, a new artificial snowing-making system and our know-how and experience in this business. I am absolutely convinced that Jahorina will be a leader in this part of Europe, because very few ones dispose of such advantages”, said on this occasion the director of the Olympic Center Jahorina, Dejan Ljevnaić.
The homologation of new ski runs on Jahorina was also considered. The inspection visit of the mountain by the FIS technical delegate was announced after returning from the conference, i.e. for the end of this month, after which the Olympic Center will be richer for 4 homologations on newly renovated tracks.
