Rescue exercise “Jahorina 2018”

The rescue exercise “Jahorina 2018”, which included the evacuation of skiers from the cableway, was successfully carried out on the Plateau Poljice, with the aim of checking the qualifications of participants and instruments for work in crisis situations.

The exercise was organized by the Olympic Center “Jahorina”. It was attended by members of the Police Administration of East Sarajevo, Police Support Unit, the Olympic Center team, the Mountain Rescue Service of “Jahorina”, the Republic Administration of Civil Defense, the local Fire Brigade and the  local Health Center.

Director of the Olympic Center “Jahorina” Dejan Ljevnaić told reporters that the Center is absolutely ready and proved that by today’s tactical-demonstration exercise of evacuation of skiers from the cable car.

“We want to pass a clear message that on Jahorina, besides good skiing and having a great time, all visitors are guaranteed safety,” Ljevnaic emphasized. He said that the Olympic Center has excellent cooperation with all subjects and protection structures – from Civil Protection to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, medical staff of the Health Center Pale, and with public companies, the municipalities of Pale and Trnovo.Ljevnaić noted that this morning a meeting with representatives of public companies and organizers of the Svetlana Raznatović was held. The concert is on Jahorina on Saturday, December 1. We have made a successful plan and schedule, so that all entities – from the clearing of roads, “Electric Power Distribution”, Water Supply, police, health centers are at  disposal, so that everything goes in the best possible way, “he said.

“We showed good cooperation and efficiency, we can respond to all tasks and situations, such as rescuing skiers from the cableway,” said Miro Kalem, the rescue officer of the Jahorina Mountain Rescue Service. He also added  that the exercise was conducted according to the protocol and that all participants were satisfied. Kalem said that all the services of the Olympic Center are at the disposal of skiers and tourists  on Jahorina. He emphasized that there are ten people on the trails 24/7 who can professionally respond to unpredictable situations at any moment.
