On Jahorina , six municipalities of East Sarajevo signed an Agreement with the Olympic Center on free skiing for children from the area of this city.
The agreement was signed by the Director of the Olympic Center / OC / “Jahorina” Dejan Ljevnaić and representatives of six municipalities, and the signing was also attended by Assistant Minister of Trade and Tourism of the Republic of Srpska Dragana Ristić.
On behalf of local communities, the agreement was signed by the Mayors of Pale Municipality Boško Jugović, of Trnovo Dragomir Gagović, of Sokolac Milovan Bjelica, Head of Department for General Administration of Eastern Ilidža Mile Vuković and representative of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo Igor Đokanović.
Ljevnaić thanked the mayors of municipalities and the Mayor of East Sarajevo for recognizing the idea of free skiing for all children from the area of municipalities within the city of East Sarajevo, adding that this is a very important project that involves many obligations.
“Our goal is to bring the children back to the mountain, to love it, to experience it as their own and to grow up on it. We signed contracts where children from the municipalities will be provided with a ski-pass from the Olympic Center because we want to behave socially responsibly and that as many children use this opportunity, “Ljevnaić told reporters before signing the contract.
If children do not know how to ski, as he said, the municipalities will have to hire a ski teacher to guide them, if they are beginners they have to be marked with vests, have helmets, and the children who know how to ski can move on the trails themselves.
He pointed out that without their partners, municipalities and the City, they could not organize this themselves, and noted that last year more than 11,200 children used the possibility of free skiing.
Ljevnaić says that they have built another new children’s polygon at the location of Rajska dolina and that the tracks this year are even better arranged, mild for the little ones during the first steps.
The mayor of eastern Sarajevo, Nenad Vuković, thanked the management of the Olympic Center “Jahorina”, which, as he said, enabled the free skiing action for the second year in a row, which shows that they are socially responsible.
“We, as an institution, will finance free transportation for children from the area of the City of Sarajevo to Jahorina during the winter tourist season,” Vukovic said.
He added that the City is in charge of urban transport, and that within these activities, it will allocate 30,000 KM, which will finance two lines from Lukavica via Pale to Jahorina, and from Sokolac via Pale to Jahorina.
According to him, this will ensure that everyone who is interested in and who through the municipalities is applying for the use of free skiing in Jahorina will have a free transfer in combination with the Olympic Center that provides a free ski pass.
Vuković said that municipalities take over the remaining part of the job to organize this work together with primary and secondary schools , so that as many youngest fellow citizens as possible can use this possibilty.
Assistant Minister of Trade and Tourism of the Republic of Srpska Dragana Ristic said that the Ministry is concerned about the youngest population, that they are aware of the importance of dealing with winter sports for the development of children, their health, socialization.
“That is why the Ministry will always support such projects,” Ristic said.
She says that the Olympic Center “Jahorina” with this activity expresses readiness and initiative to develop winter tourism in this city and show good connection, cooperation and care for children.
According to her, the Ministry can also organize a series of similar projects with other social communities in Srpska to make the children happier and healthier.
She noted that this year East Sarajevo together with Sarajevo hosts EYOF, a manifestation that will contribute to the popularization of winter sports for young people and in the best possible light promote East Sarajevo and Republic of Srpska.
