The diamond that will decorate Jahorina – gondola lift

Olympic Center Jahorina has written another page of the history of the Olympic mountain that will get another tourist attraction by the end of the year – a gondola lift. The director of the Olympic Center, Mr. Dejan Ljevnaić and the director of Leitner, Mr. Martin Leitner, signed a contract for the construction of a gondola lift worth 16,000,000 KM, which confirms the fact that Jahorina got another diamond that will adorned it in the years to come. Public procurement for the construction of the gondola was carried out in the previous period and this is another great project for the Olympic Center Jahorina, the local community and the whole Republic of Srpska.

By the construction of a future gondola lift, whose route is about one kilometer long, a parking near Vučiji Most and connecting road 1 (Ogorjelica – Poljice) will be connected, which will lead to greater utilization of the tourist potential of the mountain. The gondola will have a speed of five to six meters per second every hour which will make the ride of 3 minutes an unforgettable pleasure in exploring the natural beauties of Jahorina. It is planned to be equipped with modern cabins which can accommodate 10 people, which will ultimately give the opportunity to transport more than 2,700 skiers, boarders and other mountain lovers every hour.

“The construction of this gondola will eliminate the crowd of skiers in the winter tourist season, will unburden the central trails on the mountain and it will work in extreme conditions when it is very windy and foggy. The gondola will work when other installations cannot which was one of the basic preconditions for building and the guidline when this investment was planned. Soon we are starting construction works that we plan to finish by December 1, 2019, after which the mountain will be richer for another winter but summer tourist attraction as well  and Jahorina will no longer be the same, “said Dejan Ljevnaić, director OC Jahorina.

Olympic Center Jahorina expressed the belief that future visitors will recognize the efforts made in developing successful investment and tourism projects, promoting the mountain, events, and promoting the potential of the tourist diamond of the Republic of Srpska.
